Why Use Merckens Chocolate Melts?
When it comes to candy-making, quality ingredients make all the difference. Merckens Dark Green Chocolate Melts offer a delicious, smooth texture that’s perfect for coating pretzels and adding that extra spooky touch. They're easy to melt and ensure a flawless finish every time, making them a go-to choice for beginners and seasoned candy makers.
Here's What You'll Need
Ingredients:
Merckens Dark Green Chocolate Melts
Pretzel rods
Almond slivers
Lime green nonpareil sprinkles
Obsidian Black Luster Dust
Vodka (to mix with luster dust)
Here's What to Do
1. Melt the Chocolate
Start by melting Merckens Dark Green Chocolate Melts in the microwave 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between intervals. See instructions on how to melt Merckens here.
2. Dip the Pretzel Rods
Once the chocolate is melted, dip each pretzel rod into the chocolate, coating it evenly. Gently tap the coated pretzel rod on the side of your dish to remove excess chocolate.
3. Add the Fingernail
While the chocolate is still wet, place an almond sliver at the tip of each pretzel rod to serve as the witch’s fingernail. Press it gently into the chocolate to secure it in place.
4. Create Knuckle Marks
Use a cake spatula, butter knife, or toothpick to carve knuckle marks into the chocolate while it’s still wet. This adds a realistic, creepy detail to your witch fingers.
5. Add Sprinkle Warts
Sprinkle lime green nonpareil sprinkles over the chocolate while it’s still wet to create little “warts”, this step really enhances the creepy factor!
6. Refrigerate
Place the pretzel rods in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely set.
7. Finish with Black Sparkle Fingernails
Mix Obsidian Black Luster Dust with a small amount of vodka (which will evaporate) to paint the almond slivers black. This step is optional, but we felt like giving our witch fingers a manicure,
